Jami
A content system and film language for a platform publishing Ethiopian culture on its own terms.
Jami was publishing good work into a shape that could not hold it — every piece looked like a different platform. The job was one editorial spine, wide enough for film, essay and archive.
We built a format system: four story types, each with a fixed frame, typographic scale and title treatment, so a two-minute film and a long read sit in the same publication.
The first six films are still being shared two years on. The team now produces inside the system without a designer in the loop.
Culture is research, never decoration.
